Editorial Invitations

Below are Designers Today‘s current editorial invitations. Please read and follow the directions carefully to ensure your information is listed correctly and images are in the correct format.

Photo Requirements: 300 DPI high-resolution color jpg or tiff format images, approximately 4×5 inches or larger in size are required for printing. We cannot use 72 DPI website-quality images.

Submission Tip: You may upload up to five files (file size: 50 MB max) on each form. If you have multiple products, click the “Add another product” button to enter the image file name and a description for each new item.

If you have more than five files to submit, simply fill out another form and upload.

May/June 2024 issue:

COVER ART: We will focus on the Midwest region for the May/June issue (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana). Residential interior designers based in those states are invited to submit their impactful, high-res room shots as potential cover images. Images should be 300 dpi, fit a vertical or square format (or can be cropped to fit and still work) and have been completed within the past two years. You should also have the rights to have the images published (we do not pay for images); we will credit the photographer as well. And they shouldn’t have already been used in an ad or a previous publication, or overexposed on social media. The designer will also have a Q&A inside the issue. Please submit your materials through our online portal.

July/August 2024 issue:

COVER ART: We will focus on the West Coast for the issue (California, Oregon and Washington). Residential interior designers based in those states are invited to submit their impactful, high-res room shots as potential cover images. Images should be 300 dpi, fit a vertical or square format (or can be cropped to fit and still work) and have been completed within the past two years. You should also have the rights to have the images published (we do not pay for images); we will credit the photographer as well. And they shouldn’t have already been used in an ad or a previous publication, or overexposed on social media. The designer will also have a Q&A inside the issue. Please submit your materials through our online portal.

September 2024 issue:

COVER ART: We will focus on the New England region for the September issue (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut). Residential interior designers based in those states are invited to submit their impactful, high-res room shots as potential cover images. Images should be 300 dpi, fit a vertical or square format (or can be cropped to fit and still work) and have been completed within the past two years. Images should be 300 dpi, fit a vertical or square format (or can be cropped to fit and still work) and have been completed within the past two years. November/December 2024 issue:

COVER ART: We will focus on the Rocky Mountain region for the November/December 2024 issue (Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and Idaho). Images should be 300 dpi, fit a vertical or square format (or can be cropped to fit and still work) and have been completed within the past two years. You should also have the rights to have the images published (we do not pay for images); we will credit the photographer as well. Ongoing submissions:

  • EXPERT OPINION: Seeking designers with expertise in specialized areas (such as aging in place design, historic preservation, holiday, sound, smart home, or residential gyms) to write a how-to on that topic. The column will give designers an idea about what first steps are required and what they need to know. Please send an email (through the link) with the subject “Expert Opinion” in the subject line and tell us about your experience in that area.
  • ARCHIVE: A historic look back at relevant objects and pivotal moments in the design world, this back page will feature photography (and perhaps illustrations, when appropriate), as well as a short description. Click the link to submit possibilities.
  • SCOOP: Seeking industry news covering new collections and collaborations; trends and new ideas; shop, trade showroom and showhouse openings, expansions and news; education, museum openings and events; books and design-focused media.
  • RESOURCES: An ongoing product submission portal for descriptions and photos of home furnishings, kitchen and bath fixtures, exterior design elements, tabletop pieces, fabric and wall coverings, and some fashion and travel-related products.
